'Pere Guy' Vielles Vignes Blanc Domaine La Grapp'A 2022
Pere Guy was Julien’s Grandfather, whom he followed in his every footsteps as a kid and watched him tending his vineyards and making wine in the most simple way. He had a big impact on him and became an inspiration. Pere Guy wines are exclusively coming from a specific plot, planted by hand in 1947. The density of plantation is so high and the row so narrow that it made it impossible to use any machinery and not even a horse can enter this vineyards. It is planted with Savagnin, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Ploussard and Trousseau. in 2022 the young couple decided to macerate Chardonnay and Savagnin for a whole week in whole bunch. An unusual, yet yummy expression with a lovely weight and and orange tang to it.

Aurelie Parla and Julien Maublanc created Domaine la Grapp’A with their first vintage in 2021. Although they are not newcomers since the 7ha vineyards has been in Julien’s family for generations. Based in the small village of Abergement-le-Grand 5kms outside of Arbois, they have been working organically for the past 15 years, but all their vineyards were contracted to the local cooperative (or fruitiere vinicole as it is called in the Jura). The vineyards are in immaculate conditions and although they are not born winemakers or learnt with famous names, they surely know how to farm! They have excellent plot around Arbois and Buvilly.
